40 Scriptures to Shape Your Faith
Day 16 | Hebrews 11:1
Hebrews 11:1
"Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."
Hebrews 11, commonly called the “Faith Chapter," includes a "Hall of Faith" honoring men and women who trusted God despite difficulties. Before listing their names, the author clarifies what faith means, as shown in today’s verse. I memorized this verse years ago and suggest you consider doing the same!
Faith isn't wishful thinking. It isn't blind optimism. Faith is ASSURANCE… a settled confidence grounded in God's CHARACTER. It's CONVICTION… an unshakable certainty about realities we cannot yet see.
Notice: Faith is rooted in WHO someone IS. Our faith is in Jehovah-Jireh, our Provider and the Creator of the universe!
Consider the heroes mentioned in Hebrews 11. Noah built an ark before rain had EVER fallen (imagine the laughter from others!). Abraham left home for an unknown destination… no GPS, no map. Sarah believed for a child PAST the age of childbearing. Moses chose hardship over Egypt's pleasures.
None of them could SEE the outcome, yet they still believed God.
I've noticed something over the years: most people who say they CAN'T believe actually DON'T WANT to. It's rarely an intellectual problem. It's a HEART problem. Faith requires surrender, which feels scary to those who want control.
But for those of us who've placed our trust in Christ, faith isn't something we manufacture. It's a GIFT from God, and like a muscle, it grows stronger with USE.
Question: What are you hoping for that you can't yet see? Trust God to fulfill His promise or redirect your desire to another path He knows best. Either way, you are blessed!
Quote: "Faith is not the belief that God will do what we want. It is the belief that God will do what is right."

Prayer: Lord, help my faith grow and my commitment to follow You wherever You lead me. Amen.
