Day 01 | THINKING ABOUT HEAVEN
THINKING ABOUT HEAVEN
Philippians 3:13-14
“I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.” (NLT)
How many places have you lived in throughout your life? Have you ever moved to a different place? Before moving, did you think about your new place, the weather, the placement of the furniture, the neighborhood, and so forth? If you did, you’re NORMAL ☺.
We naturally tend to look ahead when we move to a different location or situation. We have the God-given ability to IMAGINE what it’s going to be like and start “dreaming” about the new location, what we’re taking with us, and many even start arranging the furniture in their minds before even packing to go!
In today’s verses, Paul teaches us about his SINGULAR focus on heaven, which was especially important for him given all the suffering he endured throughout his ministry. Looking forward is an amazing HUMAN characteristic that we can choose to do… or not. (Remember… We are the only creatures made in God’s image and thus we have this ability to look forward).
Think again about what Paul said... “I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.”
Take a minute now and think about that.
Prayer: LORD, thank You for the place You’ve prepared for me and all Believers in heaven, forever with You. Amen.
