LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING GOD
Psalm 42:1-2
“As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul for You, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God?”
Revelation 22:4
“They shall see His face…”
Hopefully, this series will help you GROW your longing for heaven and to see Jesus face to face. I know that’s not what the average Christian thinks about, but then… YOU are not average or you wouldn’t be reading these devotionals!

The Psalmist here, though – perhaps 3500 years ago – has something to teach us.
He parallels, in song, the picture of a thirsty deer LONGING for water with us and our souls being thirsty for the living God. Ultimately, we should all – at some level – be looking forward to seeing the Lord face to face in the afterlife… in heaven.
I can’t help thinking about Moses, that amazing man of God who spent 40 days with God on the mountain (Wouldn’t you LOVE to know what they talked about?). Finally, Moses asked – as anyone probably would – “Can I see your face, Lord?” But God knew the fatal consequences for Moses if He did, so He told Moses “no.” But with a caveat: “I’ll let you see my GLORY, my ‘afterglow’ after I pass by.“
The Scriptures teach that “Without holiness, no one will see the Lord.” (Hebrews 12: 14)
But thankfully, because of what Jesus did on earth – being born, living a sinless life, being crucified, and then rising from the dead – we can obtain eternal life and holiness.
Prayer: THANK You Lord, I want to SEE Your face. Amen.
