40 Days with Jesus (Red Letter Edition)
Day 04| ROOMS IN HEAVEN
MANSIONS IN HEAVEN
John 14:1-3
"Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am, you may be also.”
Jesus makes a bold statement: "Let not your hearts be troubled," and today – as back then – we can identify many things happening in the world that cause us to be upset and troubled in our lives.
Jesus' words were SO appropriate and needed then… just as they are TODAY.
Furthermore, Jesus was answering the question – asked earlier when He discussed with the disciples the "signs of the end times" (see Matthew 24) – about where His followers would spend ETERNITY.
Have you pondered eternity and where you'll spend yours? Pondering that is a real challenge, as literally everything we know here on earth comes and goes. Eternity? Really? And Jesus would answer: “YES, really!”
But He comforted His followers then by assuring them HE would prepare a place JUST for them and that HE would come again and take them personally with Him to Heaven forever.
Though Heaven is not mentioned explicitly in this section of Scripture, the term is used in many places, especially in John's other writing… the book of the Revelation.
Remember too that when Jesus spoke these words, he was literally just hours away from His arrest, fake trials, beatings, and death by crucifixion.
What a comfort to look forward to being with our Lord Jesus Christ in a place HE has prepared for us.
Prayer: LORD, thank You for the preparation You've done for me and others who are Followers of Yours for our place with You forever in Heaven. Amen.
