Day 38 | KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS
KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS

From Revelation 19
“I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True … on his head are many crowns …  He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God.  The armies of heaven were following him …  On his robe and on his thigh, he has this name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.”

One of the KEY questions that Jesus asked His disciples was: “Who do you say that I am?”  (Matthew 16:15)

Matthew 16:16-17 reads – “Simon Peter answered, ‘You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.’  Jesus replied, ‘Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven.’”

Kingship is unfamiliar to Americans. We have a President whom we elect every 4 years, but never a king. In fact, the Revolutionary War was about NOT allowing the King of England to rule us as a new nation.

But Jesus was “God with us” – Immanuel – as we discussed yesterday. Furthermore, He is the “Alpha and Omega” – as we will see tomorrow.  But He is – as Revelation shows us – the “King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.”

Billy Graham said: “If I had only one sermon to preach, it would be on the Lordship of Christ. When we get right on that point, we are right all the way through. God honors the exaltation of His Son.”

The Lord’s prayer says: “… Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done.”

Jesus is our Savior – YES!  But He is also the "King of Kings and the Lord of Lords."

Prayer: LORD Jesus, YOU are my Savior, my Shepherd and the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Amen.
