Proverbs 18:10
"The name of the LORD is a strong tower; The righteous runs into it and is safe." (NASB)

In ancient cities, citizens fled to TOWERS during attacks… fortresses that invading forces could not breach. Solomon uses this familiar image to describe God's NAME, which represents His CHARACTER, power, and covenant faithfulness.

Running to the tower signals URGENCY. When danger appears, you don't STROLL… you RUN. But notice the DESTINATION: not a strategy, a human ally, or self-reliance. You run to HIS NAME. Declaring WHO God is becomes your SHELTER.

I love the SIMPLICITY here. Safety isn't found in complexity; it’s found in PROXIMITY (to God). You don't need a ten-step plan… you need to RUN. Notice the verse: "the righteous [one] RUNS into it." Singular...  one person running. It's not a group activity; it’s YOUR personal flight to safety. The righteous run EARLY. Don't wait until the enemy breaches the walls. Run at the FIRST sign of trouble.

Over the years, I've noticed a common pattern among Christians. When trouble hits, most first try to figure things out, make a plan, and call someone. Those steps aren't wrong, but they shouldn't come first. Our first response should be to run to the Lord, not to make it a last resort. (I remember the joke about praying about a problem: “Oh my, has it come to that???”)

The names of the LORD – Elohim; El Shaddai; Jehovah Jireh; Jehovah Rapha; Jehovah Shalom – each reveal His character and offer REFUGE for a specific need. Whatever you're facing, there's a NAME for it and God has you covered.

Run to Him, the Strong Tower. You're SAFE there.

Quote: "The name of the Lord is the believer's refuge in every storm, his fortress in every assault."
— Charles Spurgeon

Prayer: Lord, Your name is my STRONG TOWER. Help me run to You FIRST — not last. I am SAFE in You. Amen.
