Day  33 |  John 14:6
John 14:6
"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me.'"

(NASB)

Thomas had just asked Jesus to clarify the way to the Father. It was an honest question, as Thomas was a "show me" kind of guy. Jesus' response was absolute, direct, and exclusive. He didn't say He SHOWED the way… He said He WAS the way. He didn't say He TAUGHT the truth… He said He WAS the truth.

In our pluralistic society, which celebrates MANY paths to God, this verse can be a stumbling block. People ask, "How can you be so narrow?" But Jesus spoke these words out of LOVE, not arrogance. He alone bridged the gap between holy God and sinful humanity through His death and resurrection. If there were another way, the cross would've been UNNECESSARY. (Ponder that for a minute.)

The exclusivity of Christ isn't narrow-mindedness… it's the declaration that the RESCUE He accomplished is sufficient for EVERYONE who comes. "No one comes to the Father EXCEPT through Me." That's not a barrier; it's a GATEWAY. Wide enough for "whoever," yet it opens through one DOOR.

Over the years, I've spoken with people who say, "All religions lead to God." But that's logically impossible. Religions make CONTRADICTORY claims about who God is and how to be saved. They can't ALL be right. The question isn't which religion makes the nicest claims… it's which one is TRUE.

Jesus didn't leave us with the option of "a way." He claimed to be “THE way.” The resurrection validated every claim He made.

Quote: "Christ did not merely say He was a way but that He was THE Way… and there is no other."
— Leon Morris

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You for being the WAY to the Father. May my life POINT others to the one path that leads to eternal life. Amen
