Micah 6:8
"He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?"
Our faith can become complicated. I've seen it. We pile on rules, expectations, performances, programs, and rituals, losing sight of what God TRULY desires.
Micah distills it beautifully: justice, kindness, humility. Three words. That's IT. These aren't grand theological concepts — they're daily PRACTICES.
Doing justice means acting fairly and defending the vulnerable, speaking up for those who can't speak for themselves. Loving kindness goes beyond occasional generosity; it's a DISPOSITION of the heart… choosing compassion as a lifestyle. Walking humbly with God acknowledges our dependence on Him and rejects self-righteous pride.
Together, these three form a blueprint for authentic faith that pleases God more than ANY sacrifice. Remember the Pharisees? They were religious experts who knew the Law inside and out. But Jesus called them whitewashed tombs because their hearts were far from God. External religiosity doesn't fool Heaven.
I've had conversations with folks who say, "I don't need church; I just pray to God." Fair enough. But if your private faith doesn't translate into love and kindness toward others, fairness toward strangers, and humility before God... then what are you REALLY believing in?
Here's my challenge for today: pick ONE of these three and focus on it this week. Practice justice by standing up for what’s right, even if it’s unpopular. Show kindness to a stranger you'd normally ignore. Walk humbly by admitting a mistake rather than defending yourself.

Prayer: Lord, simplify my faith. Strip away religious pretense. Make me a person of justice, kindness, and humility today. Amen.
