40 Scriptures to Shape Your Faith

Genesis 1:1
"In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth."
For millennia, humanity has theorized about the origin of the Universe. Nearly everyone believes it had a beginning. The "Big Bang" is the most widely accepted (unproven) theory among scientists. But any discussion of Creation should, in my view, include the possibility of GOD as the answer. I'm okay with the Big Bang theory, but such a bang requires a "Big Banger" — and the best answer is that Someone was God.
Think about it: the very first verse in the Bible doesn't ARGUE for God's existence. It simply DECLARES it. "In the beginning, GOD..." He doesn't introduce Himself or make His case. He simply states the fact: He was there before anything else.
The Hebrew word for "created" is bara, used EXCLUSIVELY for God's creative activity. Humans can build and assemble… but only God creates out of NOTHING. He spoke, and reality responded. Light, sky, land, seas, stars, animals, and finally humanity… all brought into existence by the sheer authority of His voice.
This brings me to a point I've made over the years: He's God, and we're not. He is the CREATOR, the Master Designer of the Universe. Only by HIS GRACE does He allow us, insignificant people (compared to the entire Universe), to come to Him in prayer.
When you face uncertainty, remember WHO you have the privilege of praying to. If God could speak galaxies into existence from nothing, He can certainly handle whatever YOU'RE facing. The same God who hung the stars is intimately concerned with the details of YOUR life. Be grateful, be humbled, be sincere.
