Day 22 | BEING THANKFUL FOR ALL OF GOD’S BENEFITS

BEING THANKFUL FOR ALL OF GOD’S BENEFITS
Psalm 103:1-2
“Bless the Lord, my soul, and all that is within me, bless His holy name. Bless the Lord, my soul, and do not forget any of His benefits.”
We all get busy and take for granted the BENEFITS that the LORD pours upon us, His children. Often, the word “benefits” reminds us of companies we worked for and something that was a part of our salary package. Or perhaps it reminds us of stuff we receive after retirement.
But in Psalm 103, King David points us to the benefits we receive from a relationship with Almighty God.
In the rest of the psalm, David reminds us:
> God forgives all our sins and heals all our diseases.
> He has redeemed us from death, putting crowns of love and tender mercies on us.
> He fills our lives with GOOD things.
> The LORD is compassionate, merciful, slow to anger, and filled with unfailing love.
> He has removed our sins as far as the East is from the West.
> He has created an army of angels who serve him, carry out His plans, and more!
Here’s the point – ALL of these things are ours in Christ – and more. And yet, we tend to take them for granted. Not because we’re bad people, but we just haven’t paused recently and read – in this case – Psalm 103.
Let me ask: does it do your heart good to occasionally hear a sincere “thank you” from a family member for things you have done for them? I’m sure it does. And I’m also sure the relationship between you and the family member grows closer when you hear a “thank you,” “I appreciate you,” or something similar.
Our relationship with Almighty God grows closer when we tell Him THANK YOU for all the benefits He has poured out on us.
Prayer: LORD God, thank You for all you have done for me and this amazing Psalm 103. Amen.
