Day 13 | LET IT GO

LET IT GO
Colossians 3:13
“Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.”
Have you noticed how easy it is to get upset with some people? Whether it’s someone you know – like family, or at church, or work, or in the neighborhood – or someone you don’t know – like the nutty driver who just ran the signal at about 65 mph – it’s easy, right?
We live in a world where we have all been affected by the “I’m taking care of #1” syndrome. Many are easily upset today. The antidote is today’s verse. You pause… take a breath… say a prayer… and “let it go.”
I remember the movie “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade” with Harrison Ford and Sean Connery. At the very end of the film – of which the entire goal was to get the “holy grail” – we have a scene where Indy is making a choice in a dangerous situation of getting the goblet or losing his life. His dad (Sean Connery) says, “Indy, let it go.”
Many today need to “let it go” and ask the Lord to help them show more grace
Today’s verse is teaching us to “bear with each other” (NIV) or “make allowance for each other’s fault” (NLT) and be ready to FORGIVE, remembering that our Lord has quickly forgiven us .
It’s also called GRACE. We’ve been shown great grace by our Lord, even though we were not perfect, so why are we holding others to a higher standard than the Lord held us to when He forgave us ALL our sin?
And one final thing. The person who benefits the MOST from obeying this verse is… YOU. I know it seems counterintuitive, but I’ve found it to be true.
Prayer: LORD, help me to be less critical, more forgiving, and FULL of grace. Amen.
