Day 36 | MORE JOY IN THE CREATION
MORE JOY IN THE CREATION
Psalm 96:10-12
“The LORD reigns; The world also is firmly established, it shall not be moved … Let the heavens be glad, the earth rejoice; let the vastness of the roaring seas demonstrate his glory. Praise him for the growing fields, for they display his greatness. Let the trees of the forest rustle with praise.” (TLB)
I went briefly by the ocean this morning, which was at a very LOW tide. Debbie and I often drive on this short road along the ocean (usually at about eight mph) amidst all the walkers and joggers and dogs. With windows down one can smell the ocean air, enjoy the sound of crashing waves, and – much like yesterday’s devotional when I talked about looking into the night sky – I can look into a vast ocean, NOT able to see across it (the Pacific Ocean IS rather large), and appreciate that our Lord God made it and all that swim and live in it. Truly a time to enjoy – as the Psalmist says – the “vastness of the roaring seas” which “demonstrate His glory.”
Now, you may not live near an ocean, but that does NOT mean that you can’t enjoy God’s creation and praise Him for it. What’s near where you live that you can look at and enjoy? A park, some tall trees, a lake or river? How about birds unique to your area? How about flowers of every color, size, and smell?
One BIG KEY to MORE JOY in our lives is to enjoy the simple things around us, like everything that our Creator God has created. YOU are unique in all the universe too, and YOU are God’s creation.
So, LOOK at Creation differently, recognize WHO made it all, and give Him praise!
Prayer: LORD God, thank YOU for making me one of a kind. Thank You also for all the creations that You made for us to care for and enjoy. Amen.
