40 MORE Days of Happiness and Joy
Day 32 | IT'S OK TO BE HAPPY IN THE LORD
IT'S OK TO BE HAPPY IN THE LORD

1 Samuel 2:1
“Hannah prayed: 'The Lord has filled my heart with joy; how happy I am because of what he has done! I laugh at my enemies; how joyful I am because God has helped me!'”
(GNT)

When's the last time the LORD did something for you? Guidance, peace, healing, you know, something?   Did it make you happy? Did you show your happiness and joy to the LORD and perhaps others?

Here in 1 Samuel, Hannah prays to the LORD and asks for a male child. God answered her prayer, and her son Samuel was born. Then, in chapter 2, we read about her joy and happiness because of what God has done for her!

When especially good things happen to you, do you feel happy? (of course!) Then, can you imagine how the answer to this BIG REQUEST made Hannah feel? VERY HAPPY!

Too often, we Christians balk at admitting that we're "happy," as though it is wrong for us to feel that way. We're OK with saying we are "blessed" or "joyful," but "happy" may not sound very Christian or spiritual.

I like repeating what the old preacher A.W. Tozer said years ago: "The people of God ought to be the happiest people in the whole wide world."

Consider again that WE parents like to see our children HAPPY, regardless of age. Remember… we are children of God. Don't you think HE likes seeing us happy and joyful as much as we enjoy seeing our children that way? Of course, He does. Just make sure your happiness happens in a God-pleasing way.

Prayer: LORD, thank You for caring about my JOY and HAPPINESS and for allowing me to have both of them in You. Amen.
