REJOICE AND BE HAPPY!
Psalm 32:10-11
“The Lord's faithfulness overwhelms the one who trusts in him. Rejoice in the Lord and be happy, you who are godly! Shout for joy, all you who are morally upright!” (NET)
If you need more encouragement to rejoice, shout for joy, or be happy, this Psalm covers you! So, let's look at the reasoning behind such encouragement.
I'm sure you've noticed how often we take something or someone for granted. My wife Debbie has many exceptional abilities, one of which is that she is an outstanding cook. However, I suspect that I take that for granted as it is the norm in our home.
Most long-time Christians almost certainly do something similar... take for granted the LORD and His faithfulness. We can – and DO – trust in Him, yet often it's a "take for granted" situation.
So today, as you're reading this devotional, let me suggest that – once again – you stop and thank the LORD for something, anything, and give Him praise.
For instance, I'm writing this just after a lunch meeting with a friend, where we encountered a couple of other church members. As we were leaving, I said to everyone, "…and we'll be together in heaven for eternity!" which got us all to smile and, in a small way, look to the future with JOY and happiness!
Reflecting on God's faithfulness and being filled with joy and happiness doesn't take much effort. And yet, most of us need encouragement to do that more often.
Re-read today's Scripture – and DO what it says!
Prayer: LORD, you are faithful, even when I'm not. I DO rejoice in You and enjoy being joyful and happy because of my relationship with You! Amen.
