40 MORE Days of Happiness and Joy
Day 25 | THE LORD PROVIDES CONSOLATION AND JOY
THE LORD PROVIDES CONSOLATION AND JOY
Psalm 94:16-19
“Who will rise up for me against the wicked? Who will take a stand for me against evildoers? Unless the Lord had given me help, I would soon have dwelt in the silence of death. When I said, ‘My foot is slipping,’ Your unfailing love, Lord, supported me. When anxiety was great within me, Your consolation brought me joy.” (NIV)
The situation here was desperate. The wicked and evildoers were winning. God’s people must have reached out to Yahweh and asked for help. They realized that unless He helped them, they would perish.
Have you ever felt that? The problems are so big that you felt… “God is my last resort”?
I expect all believers have been in a challenging situation at one time or another. Most can identify with the psalmist when he said, “My foot is slipping.” A considerable problem occurs, we try to fix it, look at our options, realize that nothing is working, feel our “foot is slipping,” and then cry out to God.
Then our loving Lord intervenes, and we are filled with JOY (and thanksgiving) for Almighty God coming to our rescue once again.
I think of something Robert Schuller said years ago: “When faced with a mountain, I will not quit. I will keep on striving until I climb over, find a pass through, tunnel underneath, or simply stay and turn the mountain into a gold mine with God’s help.”
Remember: with God, ALL things are possible, and He wants to be your help and to bring JOY to you in times of trouble.
Prayer: LORD, thank You for the help You offer me. You always seem to be there, and I am so grateful. Amen.
