THE POWER OF JOYFUL THANKSGIVING
Psalm 68:4, 19
“Sing praises to God and to his name! Sing loud praises to him who rides the clouds. His name is the Lord—rejoice in his presence!”
“Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears us up; God is our salvation.”
We often realize – and I certainly have – that we can see the Lord’s hand in our lives more clearly in the rear-view mirror of our lives (as we think back) than we do in the present. Therefore, by reflecting on His leading, His faithfulness, His provision, and then giving thanks… we can have more confidence to face what we’re facing now.
David was a master at praising the LORD for all He has done for him and his people. In today’s psalm, David leads the people in singing this praise to God, resulting in REJOICING in God’s presence. He also reminds the people that the Lord God “bears them up” (or “carries them in His arms” -NLT), which we ALL need from time to time.
At times, we all act like little children saying, “I want to do it myself,” whether we really can or not.
We sometimes say the same thing to God – “I don’t need your help; I can do it myself.” And often, we make the wrong decisions and then cry, “Help me, Lord!”
Today, let me encourage you to remember specific times when the Lord helped you when you REALLY needed it. THEN, praise God and rejoice that He is the Lord who will still bear you up daily!
Prayer: LORD, thank You for being with me, guiding me, and helping me. You fill me with JOY! Amen.
