40 MORE Days of Happiness and Joy
Day 17 | GOD'S WORD BRINGS US REVIVAL, WISDOM, JOY, AND INSIGHT
GOD'S WORD BRINGS US REVIVAL, WISDOM, JOY, AND INSIGHT
Psalm 19:7-8
“The instructions of the Lord are perfect, reviving the soul. The decrees of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple. The commandments of the Lord are right, bringing joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are clear, giving Insight for living.” (NLT)
Aside from the Word of God, I can't think of anyone that promises to be perfect and trustworthy and will give us all that this portion of God's Word promises, and yet, that is what these words – penned by David via the Holy Spirit– are saying to us.
Take that first benefit: "reviving the soul." How are you feeling as you read (or listen to) this devotional today? Do you feel great, just so-so, or perhaps a bit down?
Just like a proper intake of the right foods can help us live and feel better, a regular intake of God's Word will revive our souls, giving LIFE! (Jesus said: “I have come that you might have life abundant!” – John 10:10)
And who doesn't need WISDOM? Or Insight about things in life.
And then there's the promise: "bringing JOY to the heart."
Proverbs 4:23 says: “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”
JOY has got to be one of the very best things that you or I could fill our hearts with, and our LORD offers all of that to us as we let His Word fill our hearts and minds.
Prayer: LORD, thank You for these promises in the Psalms. Amen.
