Day 14 | HAPPY IN THE LIGHT OF YOUR PRESENCE
HAPPY IN THE LIGHT OF YOUR PRESENCE
Psalm 89:15
“Happy are those who hear the joyful call to worship, for they will walk in the light of your presence, Lord.” (NLT)
When we are newborn babies, we tend to be very contented and happy in the presence of our mothers. (Sorry, dads.) This closeness never really ends, and the happiness with parents typically persists for a lifetime.
Later, when a couple marries, they are full of JOY with each other and enjoy starting with little or nothing and working together to establish a home and family. Very normal, very typical, and they experience lots of happiness and joy!
Here, the worshippers described in Psalm 89 were FULL of JOY as they went to worship the Lord, to be "in the light of your presence, Lord.”
What makes you happy or full of Joy? Another person? A special song? Being in the presence of the LORD in prayer or Bible reading? Something else?
A lot is happening in our world today (as always), and there are many reasons to be concerned, apprehensive, or upset. However, every Sunday, good churches around the country – and around the globe – hold Christian worship services where we sing praises to our God, have fellowship with one another, hear teaching from God’s Word, and come into His presence!
As today’s Psalm states, God’s people were doing the same thing back then, and we learn here that they were JOYFUL as they went to worship the Living God.
Next time you are getting ready for church, before you leave home, remember this verse and start your praise and rejoicing early. Then, when you get to church, you’ll be all warmed up and ready to continue with your brothers and sisters in Christ!
Prayer: LORD, I do enjoy worshipping You. It makes me joyful and happy! Amen.
