FILLED WITH JOY
Psalm 100:1-2
“Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth. Serve the Lord with gladness and delight; Come before His presence with joyful singing.” (AMP)
I have often imagined what that scene back in the days of David writing Psalms must have looked and sounded like.
I imagine a group of God’s people walking to “church” (the temple) and being noisy about it as they shouted joyfully with praise and admiration, as well as from personal experiences, about how great their God was! They were singing, shouting, delighting, and being glad!
As I write this, we just celebrated Easter outdoors at church, had over-the-top music, and I got to preach about Jesus and how amazing it was that He rose from the grave JUST as he had said He would. And although NOBODY believed there would be NO BODY in the tomb, He had risen! It took some time for the disciples to believe the women, check it out for themselves, and then – when Jesus appeared – can you imagine the JOY they felt? He wasn’t dead; He WAS alive, just as He said.
God’s people in the time of Psalm 100 did NOT have Jesus or a resurrection to look back on, but they were REJOICING and SINGING praises to their God!
We have what they had – a wonderful Provider God – but we ALSO have a risen Lord Jesus Christ! Thus, we should be even MORE joyful!
Prayer: LORD, may I never take for granted the magnificence of YOUR Resurrection from the grave and ALL that that means to our future! May we ever be FILLED with JOY as we remember. Amen.
