Psalm 1:3
“He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.”
Finally, the man or woman of God who will DO the things the Lord says to DO, and AVOID the things He says to avoid, will enjoy being blessed!
The Psalmist uses a picturesque vocabulary to communicate to us, the readers, what God will do in our lives as we obey Him and practice verses 1 and 2 of this Psalm… “He shall be like a TREE planted by the rivers of waters.”
I picture a tree in the sunlight, solid and healthy with leaves that won’t wither – because of having plenty of water. The “rivers of waters” are an abiding life source for the tree.
“And whatever he does shall prosper.”
The Amplified Bible says: “and everything he does shall prosper [and come to maturity].”
Consider that Jesus spoke of bearing fruit in John 15:5, as we abide in Him. Fruit also has a “season.” Some get discouraged when they begin to follow Jesus, and fruit is not immediately evident. They need to wait until they bring forth “fruit in its season.”
Prayer: LORD, thank You for your fantastic Master Plan. There is nothing here in Psalm 1 that is beyond my ability to do. Help me see, think, ponder, and then do things Your way in Your time for Your honor and glory. And thank You in advance for the blessings that will come my way when I learn to live the way You want me to. Amen.
