Day 3 | SING A NEW SONG
SING A NEW SONG

Psalm 98:1
“Oh, sing to the Lord a new song! For He has done marvelous things; His right hand and His holy arm have gained Him the victory.”

Being thankful should NEVER fall out of fashion. Everyone likes to be thanked for something they do or have done. Sometimes, we call it an “attitude of gratitude” – which it is – but that’s an attitude many forget too soon.

The psalmist paints here a picture of a “new song” that also appears in other places in the Bible… even the book of Revelation. It implies we need to continue to write new and fresh songs of praise to our LORD God.

Spurgeon wrote: “There must be new songs on new occasions of triumph,” and so we see today able songsters continuing to write new songs for a new audience and new generations, though hopefully, without forgetting the classic hymns which have stood the test of time.

Psalm 98:1 in the Message reads: “Sing to God a brand-new song. He’s made a world of wonders! He rolled up his sleeves, He set things right.”

So, ponder and remember: WHAT has happened in your life for which you are immensely thankful? Even if that happened years ago, what’s wrong with THANKING GOD again and again this year?

In Psalm 22:3 we read… “God inhabits the praise of His people.”   Praise and thanksgiving enhance one another, so I find it most convenient to simultaneously be thankful and full of praise to God.

When we were kids, I even remember making up songs occasionally. They wouldn’t have ever made it to the recording studio, but I think most people COULD – if they tried – make up new words to a familiar tune and make it personal, too. (Maybe you should try it? Who’s going to know?? I won’t tell!)

Prayer: LORD God, you deserve my PRAISE and THANKGIVING a new. Thank You for caring for me. Amen.
