The POWER of 10
Day 29 | BLESS THE LORD AT ALL TIMES
The POWER of 10
Day 29 | BLESS THE LORD AT ALL TIMES
BLESS THE LORD AT ALL TIMES
Psalm 34:13
“Keep your tongue from evil and lips from speaking deceit.”
The musical My Fair Lady had an amusing song by Eliza Doolittle, who sings:
“Words Words! Words! I'm so sick of words!
I get words all day through: First from him, now from you!
Is that all you blighters can do?”
We live in a world with LOTS of words. We have written, spoken, sung, mimed, typed, and sent via Morse code… LOTS of words. Unsurprisingly, the Bible has much to say about words and does so many times. And continually, we are told to watch our words, get control of our tongue and lips, and keep from speaking evil and deceit.
David, the Psalmist here in Psalm 34, starts by hugely praising the Lord:
“I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
My soul shall make its boast in the Lord; The humble shall hear of it and be glad.
Oh, magnify the Lord with me, And let us exalt His name together.
I sought the Lord, and He heard me, And delivered me from all my fears.” (Psalm 34:1-4)
Ponder these words that David wrote and ask yourself: Is MY praise to Almighty God something He hears throughout the day? Do I really ever sing to the Lord other than at church? Do I use my words to talk to the Lord throughout each day?
If you don't… then why not?
Start using your words for good and be sure to add some PRAISE to God in those prayers.
You see, saying, singing, and praying ALL of that positive praise to the LORD is one of the best ways I know to AVOID our tongue, lips, and speaking from doing evil and deceit.
Prayer: LORD, I'm sorry I don't praise you, and thank you more. Remind me and help me get into the habit of praising, thanking, and praying to You more every day. Amen.
