Day 27 | HE WATCHES OUR WAY
The POWER of 10
Day 27 | HE WATCHES OUR WAY

HE WATCHES OUR WAY
Psalm 1:6
“For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous” (NIV)
Did you ever walk to school? I don’t know how many do today, but back in the day, I walked to school, even in kindergarten, which was almost ½ mile away. (Yikes!) But it was a different era; things were safe, and we learned how to cross at the right place, walk on the right side, walk with friends and all the rest. But one day, I guess I was “done” with kindergarten and just walked home in the middle of the day. I’m sure the teacher had a panic and called the office and the office called my mom; she saw me coming down the street, and I guess all was fine.
Returning to our verse today, I don’t know HOW God does it (of course, He’s God, and we’re not) but He watches everything. And this verse, in particular, reminds us that He watches over our WAY. The way of each of His children.
Other translations say the LORD (Yahweh) KNOWS the way of the righteous. Spurgeon says the LORD is constantly looking on our way and though we may often be in mist and darkness, HE knows where we are and what we are doing.
Occasionally, we’ve gone on some short morning hikes in Idaho with our grands and their parents. I watch their mom (our daughter) as she hikes up the hill but regularly surveys the trail and the kids to know where each is at any given time. Perhaps she’s not worried much now about the teen boys, but she still watches after the younger daughters to ensure all is well.
I think that may be a good picture of this verse.
Our LORD knows the way but watches over us to ensure we’re coming along and all is well.
It’s worth noting that He does, AND giving THANKS that He cares for you and me … and all His children.
Prayer: LORD GOD, thank You for caring, guiding, and watching over my way. Amen.
