The POWER of 10
Day  25 | WHAT IS THE WORD OF GOD?
WHAT IS THE WORD OF GOD?

Deuteronomy 8:3
“Man lives by every word from the mouth of God.”

The time and place of this verse was when Moses and the children of Israel were still in the desert after being set free from being enslaved people in Egypt, and the Lord was leading, guiding, providing, and more. He had provided an unknown food source – manna – to sustain them in the wilderness (for 40 years) but also taught them to believe, value, and follow every Word of God.

As you ponder that, consider the few words our God used in creating tablets for Moses with the Ten Commandments and how relevant they are today. (Consider also that if the entire world were to submit to and follow the Ten Commandments, we’d have instant world peace and no need for police or military. But unfortunately, until Revelation is fulfilled, Satan is loose, and evil will prevent that from happening … but it’s coming!)

What do you think about the Bible?

Psalm 119:105 says, “Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.”  Do you see it that way?

Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

And in 2 Timothy 3:16-17 we read, “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

You see, the Word of God teaches us how important and powerful God’s Word was – and is – whether the Old or the New Testament.   We find life, salvation, courage, faith, hope and love … and so much more by following it!

As you read (or listen to) these devotionals, attend your church, and read the Bible, remember you are hearing the Word of God, and “man lives by every word from the mouth of God.”

Prayer: LORD, thank You for Your Word. It is all that was said in this devotional and much more! Amen.
