Power of 10 - Day 15

The POWER of 10
Day  15 | THIS SAME JESUS
THIS SAME JESUS

Hebrews 13:8
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”

We are living in an age of remarkable changes. Who would have guessed a few years back that electric vehicles would become so common? Who would have thought we'd have nearly 7,941 satellites orbiting the Earth? (9/16/2021 space.com stat). Who would have guessed we could take high-quality photos with a cellphone? And on and on and on.

A not-so-funny thing about change is that it often causes people to become nervous, upset, fearful, and stressed. It also can lead to feelings of despair and even suicidal thoughts.

But God sent His Son, Jesus, to earth to become one of us, live a perfect life, and give His life for us to enjoy forgiveness of sin, a new birth, and a ticket to heaven!

But then, in today's verse, we learn that Jesus Christ, the Son of God – who has been with God the Father and God the Spirit since eternity past (don't ask me to explain that!) – is the same as always.

Consider the changes we face in life, as I mentioned. Then contrast that with our Lord Jesus, who is the SAME yesterday, today, and forever. That can be of great comfort to those who feel disheveled and dizzy by all the changes seemingly everywhere we look.

It's one reason I encourage everyone to attend a good, local, Bible-based church every Sunday. Get around Christians who share your beliefs, values, and love for God. Find one where they teach that the Word of God is “a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path.” Then rejoice that Jesus Christ does NOT change, letting that bring you calm and perspective.

Finally, listen to what the angels said to the disciples as they watched Jesus ascend to heaven in Acts 1:11 – “This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.”

It's comforting, because Jesus will be coming back … and I hope soon!

Prayer: Thank You, Lord, for being the SAME from eternity past into eternity future. Help me remain calm in the midst of the storms and wait patiently for your coming again. Amen.
