Day 7 | THANKING WITH ALL MY HEART

THANKING WITH ALL MY HEART
Psalm 9:1,10
“I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds. I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing the praises of your name, O Most High. … Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.”
David knew how to praise and give thanks to the LORD. Even though David was far from perfect, his praising God and repentance when he was wrong gave him a fantastic relationship with God.
In Acts 13:22, we read: “He (God) testified concerning him: ‘I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.’”
Even though David sinned from time to time, he eventually acknowledged his sin and repented (turned away). But David also had absolute faith in his God (consider his encounter with Goliath).
David wrote over half of the psalms and repeatedly shared how he loved God's law.
Another KEY to David being a "man after [God's] own heart," I think, is in today's verse. He said, "I will give thanks to the LORD, with ALL my heart," and … don't miss this: "I will tell of all your wonderful deeds."
If I were to give you a piece of paper and ask you to LIST all the "wonderful deeds" the LORD has done in your life, how many would you list? Would your page be blank, or would you list many?
Evangelical Christians today get a bad rap. Being an "evangelical" essentially means that (1) we believe in God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; (2) we believe that Jesus came to earth to be able to offer us salvation, paid the price for our sins on the cross, was dead, buried and rose on the 3rd day; and (3) that this free gift of salvation is available to "whosoever will" and we need to tell people about it.
David was shouting his praise for God with "all his heart." We should do the same!
Prayer: LORD, help me share Jesus's story with my non-Christian family and friends as You lead. Amen.
