Day 11 | GOD OFFERS WISDOM AND INSIGHT
GOD OFFERS WISDOM AND INSIGHT
Daniel 2:23-24
“I thank and praise you, God of my ancestors, for you have given me wisdom and strength. You have told me what we asked of you and revealed to us what the king demanded.”
You might remember the story… God’s people, the Kingdom of Judah, have been exceedingly sinful and ignored God’s warning via numerous prophets He sent. So, God allows Judah (including Daniel) to be captured by the Babylonians and exiled there.
The king of Babylon now has a dream and wants his wise men (soothsayers, astrologers, and the like) to interpret it. They can’t, so the king orders them all to be executed. (Note to self: Stay out of the dream interpretation business!) Daniel is in prison, yet God has blessed him by allowing him to find favor in the sight of the jailer, other prisoners, and many others working for the king. Additionally, the Lord has allowed Daniel to interpret dreams correctly.
We read in verse 24: “Then Daniel went in to see Arioch, whom the king had ordered to execute the wise men of Babylon. Daniel said to him, ‘Don’t kill the wise men. Take me to the king, and I will tell him the meaning of his dream.’”
And Daniel could do this confidently because he knew that God had given him wisdom and strength.
Do you need “strength and wisdom” like Daniel did? Have you asked the LORD for “strength and wisdom” like Daniel?
Now you’re probably NOT in Daniel’s exact situation (in jail, life in the balance if you don’t answer correctly, others will die if you mess up). But, the principle is the same.
GOD is omniscient, meaning HE knows everything. He has ALL wisdom, and the good news is, He wants YOU, His child, to be wise, and He will share with you.
Prayer: LORD, I acknowledge that YOU are God, are all-powerful, everywhere present and all-knowing. You are WISDOM. Like Daniel, I praise You for sharing Your wisdom and insights. Help me to be obedient. Amen.
