40 Days of HOPE
Day  20 | WHERE TO FIND HOPE, STRENGTH, AND COURAGE
WHERE TO FIND HOPE, STRENGTH, AND COURAGE

Deuteronomy 31:6-8
“Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the LORD your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you. Then Moses called Joshua and said to him in the sight of all Israel, ‘Be strong and of good courage, for you must go with this people to the land which the LORD has sworn to their fathers to give them, and you shall cause them to inherit it. And the LORD, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed.’”

How would you feel if you were taking over for Moses? That’s probably how Joshua felt.
In these verses, we find Moses preparing to hand over the mantel of leadership to Joshua, whom the LORD had chosen to be the next leader.

We know that HOPE means “confident expectation.” Thus, in these few verses, Moses was supplying Joshua with HOPE, encouragement, and guidance.

“…you shall cause them to inherit it.” Moses was building up Joshua’s HOPE… not based on a “wish,” but on the authority of God’s word.

“And the LORD, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed.”

What are you facing?  What challenge is on your horizon?  I’ll bet the LORD has an opinion about it and a WORD for you.  Have you prayed and asked Him?  Have you spent any time in the Word of God to see what HE has to say about it?

Prayer: LORD, I admit I face most situations in my own strength and wisdom.  I’m sorry.  Help me to always look to YOU for your principles, your wisdom, and your guidance.  And then help me too, to be “strong and of good courage” and not dismayed.  Thank you. Amen.
