OUR FUTURE HOPE
Revelation 21:3-4
“And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, ‘Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.’” (NIV)
Life here is not always great. Oh sure, I enjoy MANY things about life here. But as we mature, we start really noticing ALL the tears, the death, the mourning, the crying, and the pain. Even if we’re not experiencing any of that at this minute, we have experienced some, know others who have experienced more, and probably can count on more coming our way too.
How fabulous… how HOPEFUL is this promise from God (the “loud voice from the throne” in heaven) about what is COMING.
God promises His children when they get to heaven that He will “wipe every tear from eyes and that there will be NO MORE death or mourning or crying or pain.”
That certainly sounds good to me… and I’m guessing good to you too.
But beyond that statement, there is another which, to me, is even more powerful.
“Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.”
Can you even imagine what that would be like? To have God dwelling “among the people,” among us.
That HOPE is fantastic! But it’s more than just a “wish” – it is, in fact, a PROMISE by the Creator God of the universe to you and me and all who have received Jesus as LORD and Savior.
Prayer: My Lord, thank YOU for giving us this excellent future HOPE. As we celebrate Your resurrection, we celebrate the PROOF that everything you said in Your Word is true. I am so looking forward to that day! Amen.
