Day  31 | TRUST HIM AT ALL TIMES
TRUST HIM AT ALL TIMES

Psalm 62:8
“Trust in Him at all times, O people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah.”
(NKJV)

The dictionary defines “radical” as: “very different from the usual or traditional.”  Today, we might attribute that moniker to someone who is WAY out of the “norm” or perhaps a political extremist.

Psalm 62 was written by David and is entitled: “A calm resolve to wait for the salvation of God.”

As I read this verse, it strikes me that this is a RADICAL attitude: To trust Him (GOD) at all times.
I mean, in reality, WHO does that? Trusting God is not the usual or traditional thing.

But David continues by indicating we are to “pour out your heart before Him.”

Peter writes it this way:  “Cast all your care on Him, for He cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7)

And even that makes sense… God is the SAME – to David and Peter, and you and me.

So then, after David tells us to “pour out our heart before Him” – telling Him about our joys, our sorrows, our fears, doubts, and worries –  after casting ALL of that on Him we will realize that GOD is our refuge – our place of safety, our fortress – and so we can rest in Him.

“Selah” is a unique word found only in the Psalms.  Selah is a musical term, which makes sense since the psalms were songs.  Selah means to REST, to ponder, and to reflect on what was just sung.

This is a section of Scripture in which the author – David – is imploring us to be “all-in.” To be radical about that trust and to do so at ALL times.  And the payoff?  Resting in Him.  Selah.

Prayer: Lord, I do want and NEED to rest in You.  Thank You for being the same – yesterday, today, and tomorrow.  Thank You for offering to be MY refuge, as you were for David, as you were for Peter, and for ALL who will TRUST in You.  Amen.
