Day 38 | JESUS IS THE WAY
JESUS IS THE WAY
John 14:6
“Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (NKJV)
I remember hiking the mountains way back in Boy Scouts and wondering how we managed to stay on THE path. But… that happened because we had wise and experienced adult Scout leaders who led us boys safely. (And when you're only 12, that's a good thing!)
Every day, there seem to be more people trying to run my life, your life, and everybody's.
But 2000 years ago, Jesus made this tremendous but straightforward statement to his disciples: "I am the truth."
Accepting anything or anyone as "THE TRUTH" is politically incorrect these days. Today, we are all being nearly forced to accept everyone else's opinion about truth, as the idea of Absolute Truth – is repugnant to a growing group.
Yet Jesus says boldly: "I am THE way, THE truth, and THE life." Then he continues, "NO ONE comes to the Father but BY ME" He is stating an Absolute Truth.
Hear the gravity of what Jesus is saying. He is saying that ANY "way" to the Father except through Him, is the WRONG way.
I think back to when we Scouts were on a two-week hike in the Sierras on the John Muir trail and came to a fork in the trail. And I can only imagine what might have happened if the wise, experienced adult leaders said, “Follow me, this is the way," but some self-centered 12-year-olds disagreed, "No, a few of us are going to take this path; it looks better and we think this is the way."
Proverbs 14:12 says: "There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death."
The way to be wise and safe is to follow THE Truth – Jesus – who will show us The Way.
Prayer: LORD, I acknowledge that YOU are THE TRUTH, and following Your Way will lead me to LIFE eternal with the Father and You in Heaven. Amen.
