Day  36 | GOD GIVES HOPE
GOD GIVES HOPE

Jeremiah 29:11
“For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
(NIV)

Have you ever felt lost? Ever felt as though there was nothing to look forward to… and maybe even wondered if God knew or cared?

Whatever might be going on in your life today is not nearly as bad as what the Jews were going through when Jeremiah was inspired to write this. They were in captivity in Babylon. And even though God allowed this in their lives, He wanted to encourage them and did so through these words from the Prophet.

I have found great inspiration in these words, although – thankfully – I have never experienced captivity as the Jews did here.

And we all need inspiration from time to time. Every Christian has probably wondered, at one time or another, where God is when things are going sideways. Does God know? Does God care? Is there any hope?

We all need HOPE.

When I was called to become the pastor at my church, I didn't realize how dismal the situation was and how discouraged most of the church was. But, the Lord led me to preach – for my first message as pastor – on this verse and apply it to their situation. I don't know what everyone thought, but I was encouraged and the church started turning around.

If you're facing a dismal situation, let me suggest you PRAY and ask the Lord to encourage your heart and maybe – if He wills it – to give you a picture of what the future holds. He did with me and the church, which is now filled with LOTS of faith, hope, love, joy, and the fruit of the Spirit.
Read (or listen) to today's verse a few more times and ask the Lord if this is not for YOU today.

Prayer: LORD, thank You for giving me some HOPE when I need it. You are my Source, and I am thankful for ALL You do for me. Amen.
