Day 12 | THE BLESSED NATION
THE BLESSED NATION

Psalm 33:12
“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.”

This verse is not an “American verse” or that of or for any specific country. Instead, it is a verse of TRUTH that speaks to ANY country willing to acknowledge that God is THE Lord of all.

Today is Election Day here in America. It’s not a presidential election year, yet the media – on both sides – is spinning this as a critical election for the House and Senate (and the same at the state levels).

History shows that the Founders of America were overwhelmingly Christian and believers who held the Bible in the highest regard. They believed that the God of the Bible was the Creator and Lord of all. Thus – from my point of view – the Lord BLESSED America and we became blessed, prosperous, FREE, and the “beacon on the hill” to people worldwide who wanted FREEDOM. Throughout most of our 276 years as a nation, our country and its leaders in Washington DC, supported the God of the Bible.

But something changed… and now we have a larger group than ever of people who think Christianity and the Bible are wrong, out of date, and even “hate-filled.”  Of course, people throw soundbites around like that because they don’t know and can’t debate the facts.

I believe as Jesus did when He said (to His heavenly Father), “Your WORD is truth.”  (John 17.17).

I am a “baby-boomer” and grew up when nearly everyone had a church, the Bible was revered, and God was considered the Almighty! And in the 50s, 60s, and later … America continued to be blessed. But, in the past couple of decades, the tide is turning. We Believers, though, DO have a choice: trust God and continue “speaking the TRUTH in love” (Eph 4:15), or capitulate. I suggest we need COURAGE, to not be afraid, and continue to worship our Lord and share Him with everyone. As the song lyric says, “People need the Lord.”

Prayer: LORD, give me the words to say to people in my circle who need YOU and help us as a nation to repent and turn again to YOU. Amen.
