40 Days Praying the PSALMS
Day 26| BE STILL AND KNOW THAT I AM GOD
BE STILL AND KNOW THAT I AM GOD

Psalm 46:10-11
“Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!  Selah”
(NKJV)

Another favorite Scripture of mine that I have quoted to others countless times is, “Be still and know that I am God.”

I don’t have to tell YOU that life in the 21st century is BUSY. Everyone I know – those working full time, part time, or retired – has busy calendars and things going on. And that’s not a bad thing… until you don’t have any time or energy left over for the Lord.

If I constantly ran myself ragged so that I had no time or energy for my wife, she would subtly let me know. And that makes sense since I have committed to her that SHE is the most important person in the world to me!

So, what about God? How important is He to YOU?

One thing about the Lord, He is more patient than anyone I know. I can go – and have in the past I’m sure – gone a LONG time without any quality one-on-one time with the Lord… yet, without any interruption in my life by Him “tapping on my shoulder” so to speak.

And yet, WE are the ones who pay the highest price for NOT spending time with Him: YOU and me.

Some would ask me, “HOW is spending time with God going to help anything?“ or “What price am I going to pay?”

The short answer – peace, quiet, stilled waters, refreshed mind, hearing His wise voice of comfort and guidance, and SO MUCH MORE. I encourage you to spend a few minutes of TOTAL stillness with God daily. No electronics or distractions… at all. You’ll like it!

Prayer: LORD, I admit I let other things crowd you out. I’m too connected to my electronics – TV, phone, internet, etc. Teach me the beauty of being still and knowing that YOU are God. Amen.
