40 Days Praying the PSALMS
Day 3 | WHERE IS YOUR TRUST?
WHERE IS YOUR TRUST?

Psalm 2:1,12
“Why do the nations rage, and the people plot a vain thing?
Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him.”

David continues his sweeping overview of Psalms (and life), which he began in Psalm 1.  He continues to contrast the two paths available to everyone and from which everyone must choose.

The “nations raging and people plotting a vain thing” shows the depravity of man and the plans – which we can see today – of people who will do anything they can to dismiss God as irrelevant, unnecessary, or unreal.  People today – even in America – are becoming increasingly hostile towards God or the things of God.  For instance, one of my staff members recently attended an online seminar by our web hosting company.  They said some churches have recently been banned from social media sites because (according to the site) they were spreading the “disinformation” of Genesis 1 and the story of Creation.  That is bold, brazen hostility towards God and the things of God as well as all the Jews and Christians in this nation who believe God’s Word.  As this Psalm teaches, those making such decisions are clearly “raging” and plotting a “vain thing.”   (Meaning: in the end, they and their plotting will fail.)

So, the first thing to realize from Psalm 2 is that this is to be expected.  It happened 3000 years ago when David wrote this, and it has and will continue to happen until the Second Coming of Christ.

But on the positive side, we have a continuation of a theme from Psalm 1 when David writes: “Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him.”

Blessed – “esher” in Hebrew – means: happy, fortunate, prosperous, and to be envied.  (Per the Amplified Bible).

I’m THANKFUL to be blessed of God which you and I are IF we put our trust in Him.

Prayer: LORD, thank You for helping me understand the war that is going on against YOU in the nation today.  I trust in YOU, and YOU are my Lord and my God.  Amen.
