Day 35 | THE PRAYER WALL IS OPEN 24/7
THE PRAYER WALL IS OPEN 24/7

Ephesians 6:18
“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.”
(NIV)

A few years ago, my wife Debbie and I went to Israel for the first time.  Being first timers, we went to all the classic sites including the “Western Wall” aka the “Wailing Wall” aka “Solomon’s Wall.”  Here visitors and locals come – with head coverings on – to place a written prayer in the crevices of the wall. The wall has a long history and both Jews and Christians today enjoy praying at the wall. I did (with the men) and my wife did (with the women).

Here in Ephesians 6, Paul is inviting us to pray on ALL occasions and with all kinds of prayer for all the Lord’s people.

And I got to thinking, prayer today is almost too easy.

When we went to Israel and to the wall, we were planning to pray, we were expecting to pray, and we were ready to pray. We had our written lists ready and had given it some thought.

So I thought, do WE do that when we pray at home?  Do we plan, prepare, and even (occasionally) write out our prayer list or even the prayer itself?  Or do we just spout off whatever comes to mind.

Even today just before writing this, I had been texting a Christian friend who just took an early retirement because his Christian company has mismanaged funds, lost customers, and had to let many long-time vested employees go.

The point being… there are prayer needs all around us and we need to pray ALL KINDS of prayers – for ourselves, for others, for our country, for our churches, for our police and military, and on and on.

Before your next prayer time, try investing some time preparing.  God’s “prayer wall” is open 24/7 but we shouldn’t treat it lightly.

Prayer: LORD, thank you for the gift of prayer.  Help me to be more effective in my prayer life.  Amen.
