40 Reasons God DELIGHTS in YOU
Day 17 | HOPE
HOPE

Jeremiah 29:11
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
(NIV)

When you were a kid, did you ever dream of being a fireman, nurse, policeman, teacher, or something? It seems I and most of my friends when we were growing up did. We watched TV and dreamed of maybe being this or that. Some were possible (becoming a policeman), some were fantasy (being Superman) but we certainly used to dream a little.

Then we grow up… and sometimes our hopes and dreams are dashed.

Did you know that the LORD has always wanted to lead and guide you as you live your life here on Earth?

The problem for many Believers – young and old – is that they are not always interested in what the LORD wants for them. Oh, we love Jesus and have accepted Him as Savior, but we don’t always – if we are honest – want Him to be LORD and to fill us with the HOPE of what He has in store.

But, there is an old saying, “If Jesus isn’t Lord of all, He’s not Lord at all.”

When the Spirit led the prophet Jeremiah to write what we read here, he spoke to the exiled Jews who were in a 70-year captivity in Babylon. This was told to give them HOPE then, and I would suggest, hope for us NOW.

HOPE is a powerful word and one that we all need.

1 Corinthians 13:13 says: “Now exists faith, hope, and love…”  But like a 3-legged stool, we need all three: faith, HOPE, and love.

The Jews in exile needed HOPE, so God reminded them they were not forgotten and that there was a plan. The same is true for us today.

Prayer: LORD, I admit I need HOPE with all that is going on in the world. Thank YOU for being willing to provide that for me as I live for you in times like these. Amen.
