THERE’S A NEW BODY WAITING FOR YOU
2 Corinthians 5:1-2
“For we know that when this earthly tent we live in is taken down (that is, when we die and leave this earthly body), we will have a house in heaven, an eternal body made for us by God himself and not by human hands. We grow weary in our present bodies, and we long to put on our heavenly bodies like-new clothing.” (NLT)
Have you ever started a new exercise program? WHY did you do that? Probably because you were not completely satisfied with your body and the shape it was in. Perhaps you needed to lose weight, improve your flexibility or balance, or just wanted to get back into a body that was more you in the past.
News flash! Although we can usually improve our physical health by working at it; depending on your age, your body may not ever be at its peak again in this life.
Which should make you wonder: What WILL I look like in heaven when the time comes?
These verses give us part of that answer. Our God has eternal bodies prepared for His children when we get to heaven.
When we were young, say teens and 20s, our bodies were pretty much at their peak, and going to heaven was NOT something we thought about.
But then, if we are fortunate enough to grow older, our bodies stop being able to do all they did decades before. They don’t look the same, feel the same or act the same as they once did.
God knows this and sees that as we become more worn out and weary, we start looking forward to our new heavenly bodies. And He has that covered! Our heavenly bodies are there waiting for the time when we put them on like-new clothing.
Prayer: LORD, I look forward to my new heavenly body which YOU have prepared for me. Amen.
