40 Reasons God DELIGHTS in YOU
Day 11 | THE LORD IS YOUR SAFETY
THE LORD IS YOUR SAFETY

Isaiah 33:5-6
“The Lord is very great, and he lives in a high place.  He fills Jerusalem with fairness and justice.  He will be your safety. He is full of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge.  Respect for the Lord is the greatest treasure.”
 (NCV)

Although life here has many good times, have you noticed how easy it is to get hurt?  I’ve often mentioned to my wife and other family members that without God having built into our bodies the capability of being healed, probably NO boys would ever make it past age 10.  Boys (and some girls) tend to fall, jump off rocks, and go faster than they should on bikes, skateboards, and later, in cars.

And yet, the Lord is very great.

And since He designed us, knows us, and realizes how fragile we are, He wants – out of His kindness and love – to be our SAFETY.  Is it because we are lovely and unique that He chooses us?  Not really, it’s really because – again – He is God, and as the Sovereign God, He does what He does, says what He says, and provides what He provides because He decides to do so.
So, if we acknowledge that God is FULL of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge… what is our part in this relationship?

Respect.  Other translations use the word FEAR, much like in Proverbs, where we learn “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.”

And as human parents who teach their children right from wrong, beneficial behaviors from those that aren’t… God wants to teach His children (that’s you and me) things like fairness, justice, salvation, wisdom, and knowledge.  But the KEY to opening the doors to these nuggets of true wisdom is to RESPECT, highly respect, the Lord God Almighty.

Prayer: LORD, I do respect you, worship you, bow before you, I acknowledge that YOU are God and I am NOT.  That You are watching and listening to everything, I do and say.  Help me to be continually aware that I am in the presence of a holy, just, and almighty God.  Amen.
