UNITED IN PRAYER

Acts 1:12-14
“Then the apostles returned to Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives, a distance of half a mile. When they arrived, they went to the upstairs room of the house where they were staying.
Here are the names of those who were present: Peter, John, James, Andrew, Philip, Thomas, Bartholomew, Matthew, James (son of Alphaeus), Simon (the zealot), and Judas (son of James). They all met together and were constantly united in prayer, along with Mary the mother of Jesus, several other women, and the brothers of Jesus.”
(NLT)

The timing of these verses was immediately after Jesus had ascended back to heaven… after His resurrection and after His 40 days of appearing around town.

Note their focus on prayer: “They all met together and were constantly united in prayer…”
How often do you talk to the Lord? I don’t know that we have to pray “10 hours a day”  (unless there is something extraordinarily in need of prayer)… but I think we should keep the lines of communications open with our Heavenly Father ALL DAY LONG. We can offer little, short prayers – or conversation pieces – with our Heavenly Father at times other than when we STOP everything for a specific time of prayer.

Does that make sense?

For instance, what does it take for you to remind the Lord throughout the day that you love Him? What does it take to THANK HIM multiple times for some particular answer to prayer?
In the verses above we see (and can almost hear) these disciples (followers) being together and praying together as they WAITED for the coming of the Holy Spirit, just as Jesus directed. There is power when we pray with even just one or two others.

Prayer: LORD, help me see that prayer is something I can do ALL DAY LONG. I can talk with You – which includes listening to You and being in Your Word. Thank You for caring about my prayer life. Amen.
