Day 27 | BE AT PEACE WITH EVERYONE | Romans 12:15-18
BE AT PEACE WITH EVERYONE

Romans 12:15-18
“Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion. Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men. If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.”

As you read the New Testament, you will see many times how the Lord is trying to teach his followers HOW to live peaceably with one another.

Here Paul – via the guidance of the Holy Spirit – is teaching the church at Rome to be of the same mind with one another. He says it starts with rejoicing with those rejoicing and weeping with those who are weeping.  The LORD was also trying to teach his followers via Paul’s letter, how to get along with those outside the church too.  He was encouraging us to not be “full of ourselves” or to retaliate for any wrong done to us.

Finally he says: “as much as is possible, as much as it depends on you, live at peace with one another.”

The reality is, we can’t always predict how others will act or react to things we do.  But we do have control over how WE act and react. And Paul was teaching that to live at PEACE with one another, was a goal for the church, then and now.

So, what does it take to do that?  It depends… every church is slightly different as is every situation and person.

But one thing strikes me for sure: You and I have what it takes – via the Holy Spirit residing inside of us – to BE at peace with one another.

Prayer: LORD, I do want to live in peace. Help me to NOT repay evil for evil.  Help me to REJOICE in the truth and in good things and to let the other things go.  Help me to be an instrument of Your peace.  Amen.
