40 Days of Promise
Day 18 | God’s Guarantee | 2 Corinthians 1:19-22
God’s Guarantee
2 Corinthians 1:19-22
“For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us—by me, Silvanus, and Timothy—was not Yes and No, but in Him was Yes. For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us. Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God, who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.”

Paul preached and taught that Jesus was completely reliable and worthy of trust.  Paul, had just been ill-treated by the men in Corinth… yet, the Spirit enabled him to see beyond the immediate to the powerful reminder by the LORD that ALL of God’s promises are guaranteed. Remember, this is the same Paul who writes Romans 8:28 – “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”

Paul teaches that we (Believers) are anointed, sealed and guaranteed by the Holy Spirit and that every promise of God will be fulfilled. In fact, we have been given the Holy Spirit as a kind of “down payment” for all the fullness of what God will do in and through us. The Holy Spirit is a pledge of greater things to come.

Prayer: LORD, thank You for the gift of the Holy Spirit.  Thank You for Your promise, Your guarantee, that ALL the things You promised us – we Followers of Jesus – will come to pass in Your timing.  Amen.
