GOD HAS PREPARED
1 Corinthians 2:7-9
“No, we declare God’s wisdom, a mystery that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. However, as it is written: ‘What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived’— the things God has prepared for those who love him”
God’s plan and wisdom are amazing and clearly beyond our comprehension. Here, Paul calls it a “mystery” which none of the rulers of Jesus’ time saw or understood. Yet God planned His Son’s life, death, burial, and resurrection… which was BEYOND anything anyone could have imagined.
Though not exclusively about heaven, we can surmise that Paul was being led (by the Spirit) to at least hint at “the things God has prepared for those who love Him.”
So, what are some of the “things” God has prepared for us in Christ?
On this side of heaven, we have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. And the Spirit provides us with salvation (regeneration) and assurance. He seals us for the day of redemption, lives inside us, provides us with spiritual gifts and the Fruit of the Spirit, and is our 24-7 Prayer Partner (and will even pray for us when we can’t or don’t know how), and much more!
Then, of course, there is HEAVEN ahead! I sometimes watch, amazed, as various building projects are underway in our community. Then I think about God and His planning for HEAVEN for us… “’What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived’ — the things God has prepared for those who love him.”
Prayer: LORD, thank YOU for Your marvelous plan … and for including me! Amen.
