SHARE HIS LOVE
Matthew 5:16
“Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”
Of course, Jesus was not speaking about our flashlights, house lights, or headlights. He was discussing how we should live our lives and connect with others.
One way to connect and support others is through your church’s missions outreach, whether it’s international or local. Another helpful idea might be to WELCOME someone new to your neighborhood.
In 1966, Dionne Warwick sang: “What the World Needs Now Is Love.” Can you say “AMEN” to that? This is what the world needs once again today.
So, is this verse relevant to us today? YES! The world needs love… and since God is love, what better source?
So, what can you do to increase the LOVE that you share… at home, with your extended family, with your church family, in your neighborhood? Of course, I’m not suggesting we do anything inappropriate or dangerous, but we should all be attentive to the Spirit's leading on where and when we can show Christian love to someone. Maybe invite someone to church? Take flowers to someone just home from the hospital? The possibilities are endless!
There was another song we used to sing in church years ago: “They Will Know We Are Christians by Our Love.”
Years ago, we hosted a family dinner at our house including some new “extended family” who had never visited us before. Later that afternoon, I overheard one adult son, who was with us for the first time, say, “Gee Dad, amazing; a family that actually loves one another.” I guess whatever we did that day made an impact. How about you?
Prayer: LORD, help me to be creative and find ways to share my Christian love and care with others, and let my light shine for YOUR honor and glory. Amen.
