Day 21 | HE’S ALREADY THERE
HE’S ALREADY THERE

Matthew 18:20
“Where two or three are gathered in my name, there I am with them.”

Some people believe that God only listens to them and hears when they are in large gatherings of Christians or perhaps led by a pastor or someone official.

Jesus’ statement here is reassuring, reminding us that when ordinary Believers gather in His name, whether for Bible study or a casual get-together, Jesus’ promise becomes a reality.

Picture a small circle of friends gathering around a kitchen table, sharing the burdens of the week and whispering prayers for one another. In that humble setting, this verse assures us that Christ is already there… listening, encouraging, and empowering. The promise turns our gatherings from simple social moments into sacred encounters, reminding us that we never walk alone.

Dietrich Bonhoeffer captured this truth beautifully in Life Together:  "The Church is truly the church only when it exists to serve others… It stops being the Church when it exists solely for itself.”

When we come together, Christ’s love is present. Our shared worship becomes a lively testimony that the Kingdom is here among us. This gathering also protects against isolation, a common obstacle in the Christian walk. By relying on each other, we find encouragement, support, prayer, and the collective wisdom that strengthens our faith.

Hebrews 10:24-25 also tells us: “And consider how to encourage one another in love and good deeds, not abandoning our own meeting together, as is the habit of some people, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day approaching.”

We believers need to gather… whether in a church service or small groups, we need one another, and Jesus is there.

Prayer: Thank You, Lord, for meeting with us in all sizes and types of groups. Amen.
