Day 18 | DO NOT WORRY ABOUT TOMORROW.
DO NOT WORRY ABOUT TOMORROW.

Matthew 6:34
“Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.”
 (The Message)

As followers of Jesus, we walk with Him every day. He is our Lord, Savior, and Shepherd. He wants to guide us and – if we listen and allow Him – care for us. We are children of God (see John 1), and just like good parents love their children, our Heavenly Father loves us!

So, Jesus addresses here a WORRY problem that was significant for His audience then… and I believe it is even MORE SIGNIFICANT for us today.

Here’s a practical definition of WORRY: “the misuse of God’s gift of imagination.”

Most people are flooded with news today, and I’ve found that no matter what kind of news someone watches, it’s designed to make you angry, upset, and worried.

Let me share what I tell my church family: “Satan wants us to be filled with fear, doubt, and worry. The Lord wants us to be filled with faith, hope, and love. And YOU and I get to choose.”

Every day we decide: Do I want to watch, listen to, or read anything, and if so, what? (and a good question to ask is: why?)

Jesus was teaching His listeners – and us too – the formula for peaceful living: “one day at a time.” While this doesn't prevent planning for the future, Jesus is really trying to help us NOT WORRY about tomorrow and to live today filled with Faith, Hope, and Love.

C.S. Lewis said, "Life with God is not immunity from difficulties, but peace in difficulties."

Prayer: LORD, help me learn to choose the PEACE that comes from focusing on YOU rather than all the things that worry and upset me. Fill me, Lord, with Your faith, hope, and love. Amen.
