Day  21 |  Psalm 119:105
Psalm 119:105
"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path."
 (NASB)

This verse from Psalm 119 is very familiar and the psalm is an extended meditation on the beauty of God's Word and the Bible's longest chapter, with 176 verses, nearly every one mentioning God's Word. This verse offers a vivid image: a traveler navigating dark terrain, guided only by a small FLAME.

Here's what I love about this picture: a lamp doesn't illuminate MILES ahead. It shows you the next STEP or two. Honestly, that's usually all God gives us. We want the full map, a complete GPS, a five-year plan, the complete blueprint. But God typically says, "Just take the next step. I'll show you the one after that when you get there."

I don't know about you, but I’ve found that most people have spent a LOT of energy trying to figure out the distant future. They’ve asked themselves: Where will we be in five years? What about retirement? Where will we live?  But here's what I've learned: worrying about mile 47 while you're standing at mile 1 will PARALYZE you and keep you from moving ahead at all.

God's Word operates like that lamp… designed for the terrain you're walking RIGHT NOW. When you open God’s Word, God illuminates the next step. Maybe it's a verse about forgiveness when you're holding a grudge. Maybe it's a reminder of His presence when loneliness hits. The Word meets you WHERE you are.

The question isn't whether God's Word is sufficient. It IS. The question is whether we're PICKING IT UP. Are you reading it? Are you letting it sink in?

Keep your Bible open. Keep reading. The light WILL come — exactly when you need it.

Quote: "The Bible is not given to satisfy curiosity but to save souls and sanctify lives."

Prayer: Lord, thank You for Your Living Word. When I face darkness, let Your Scriptures be the light that guides my feet. Amen.
