Day  34 | Romans 10:9-10
Romans 10:9-10
"If you CONFESS with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess your faith and are saved.”

In these verses, Paul teaches that salvation involves both BELIEF and CONFESSION… two things needed to be saved.

Notice the wording: “confess with your mouth, ‘JESUS AS LORD.’” Not that Jesus is A lord, but THE Lord and YOUR Lord… your Master, your King, your Boss. In the Roman Empire, where CAESAR claimed lordship, making that confession was risky. It still is in some places today. One also needs to CONFESS (say) it to someone, though Paul does not prescribe exactly how.

Believing in the RESURRECTION says “yes” to the historical event that validates everything Jesus claimed. It is the cornerstone of our faith and without which – as the Apostle Paul said – Christianity would not be. We believe in our HEART, not just our head.

And God’s promise to us here is ABSOLUTE: "You WILL be saved." Not "maybe." Not "if you're good enough." Not "if you do enough good works" or "if after you read and believe the entire Bible." “You WILL be saved.”

For about 2000 years, people around the world have come to Jesus by believing in Him and declaring Him their Lord and Savior. Every time, it has come down to this: believe and confess. That is simple yet life-changing.

If you've never done that – or aren't sure – let me encourage you to do so NOW, wherever you are. "If you CONFESS with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”  (Feel free to let me know!)

Quote:
"Salvation is as near as your mouth and as deep as your heart."
— Billy Graham

Here’s a Prayer for salvation you could say: “Lord Jesus, I confess You as LORD of my life. I believe God raised You from the dead. Help me LIVE OUT this confession every day and share it with others as You lead.  Amen.”
