Day  29 | 2 Timothy 1:7
2 Timothy 1:7
"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”
(NKJV)

Paul writes here to Timothy, a young pastor likely wrestling with FEAR. Is that surprising? Timothy was young, facing opposition, and probably wondering whether he was up to the task. Sound familiar? Have you ever felt INADEQUATE for what God's called you to? I know I have.

Paul's counsel is both theological and PRACTICAL: fear doesn't come from God. Period. Instead, He gives THREE qualities that counter fear… POWER to act boldly, LOVE to act selflessly, and a SOUND MIND to act wisely.

The NASB version uses the word: DISCIPLINE, which captures it well. A disciplined mind is a “sound mind” or an “ORDERED mind”; not chaotic, not spiraling, not catastrophizing. It thinks truthfully, stays focused, and refuses to replay worst-case scenarios.

Fear PARALYZES. Power MOBILIZES. Fear ISOLATES. Love CONNECTS. Fear DISORDERS. Discipline ORDERS.

Timothy needed this reminder. So do we. Maybe you're facing something today that feels BIGGER than you… a diagnosis, a decision, a confrontation, or a calling. Listen to Paul: God didn't give you timidity. He gave you POWER, LOVE, and a SOUND MIND.

Receive it.  Walk in it.

Quote: "Fear is faith in the devil. Faith is fear conquered by the power of God."
— Smith Wigglesworth

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I reject the spirit of timidity. Fill me with Your Spirit of POWER, love, and a sound mind. Replace my hesitation with BOLDNESS. Amen.
