Day 36 | SEEING THE KING
SEEING THE KING

1 Corinthians 13:12
“For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.”

Revelation 22:4
“They will see His face”

I remember growing up in Los Angeles and listening to Vin Scully, the LA Dodgers iconic announcer back then.  This was WAY before baseball on TV was commonplace, and even though I had gone with my Boy Scout troop to a few games, I had never seen Mr. Scully.  But I had an idea in my mind, I guess, of what he looked like from listening to him on the radio.

THEN, when baseball on TV became a bit more popular, I saw him. He was NOT what I had in mind!

As the song says, “I can only imagine” what God looks like.  Even Moses was not allowed to look at God directly, but we are told in today’s verses: we will see Him “face to face” one day.

I wonder what different ideas people have about what Almighty God looks like?  Why Moses couldn’t look at him.  Why people COULD see Jesus when He was on earth, but then again, only because He put on a human body for his 33 years or so on earth.

Are you looking forward to SEEING the Trinity?  God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit?

Today, we imagine God – as only a “reflection” or “dimly” or “darkly” or “blurred” (in various translations). The point is… we don’t know. It’s like trying to see your own face in the bathroom mirror when the mirror is all fogged up.

Seeing His Face – seems unbelievable!

Prayer: LORD, I so look forward to seeing You face to face.  Amen.

Bonus: another thing that won’t be in heaven… debt collectors
